AA puts its faith in Ford Transit
Ford’s share of the AA’s 3,000-strong roadside rescue fleet has grown to in excess of 50 per cent following a deal to take delivery of 500 Transits during 2011. The AA itself will be running 450 of the new vans, with the balance going to its Autowindshields division, which already has a 100 per cent Transit fleet. All the AA’s patrol vehicles undergo an extensive conversion process in the workshops of vehicle preparation specialist Ambrosetti; two a day are adapted to carry the vital recovery equipment and racking required for an effective roadside rescue van.
“The order of 500 vans is in recognition of the quality and performance of the Ford Transit. The Transit meets all our requirements for affordable running costs and is the best vehicle for the job”, said Sarah Dopson, AA fleet manager. The 500 Transits currently on order could rise by the end of the year.”
Ford of Britain direct sales manager, Paul Henderson, said: “Ford and the AA have enjoyed a long and mutually beneficial relationship which is further strengthened by this new, large order of Ford Transits. We look forward to working with the AA to help maintain its status as the UK’s largest roadside assistance organisation.”
