All-new 2012 Isuzu Rodeo breaks cover
Isuzu has taken the covers off it’s new range of D-Max pick-ups in Thailand — sold as the Rodeo in the UK — and it’s based on the new, recently launched, Chevrolet Colorado (see Video News Story). Chevy owner GM and Isuzu have a long history of model-sharing their mid-size pick-ups, but up until now it has been Isuzu taking the lead. The Colorado was developed by GM at its design centre in Brazil.
Not much detail is currently available, but assume that the new Rodeo, due to go on sale in the UK in the first half of 2012, will mimic the Colorado from the A-pillars back. It’s plain to see from the pictures that Isuzu has put its own twist on the front-end styling and it has to be said that it’s looking good. Inside, the differences are less obvious, with the two pick-ups sharing a largely identical cab.
For Thailand the D-Max is powered by two versions of the Chevy 2.5-litre diesel (114hp and 148hp) as well as by Isuzu’s own 175hp 3.0-litre. Transmission choice is five-speed manual or automatic.
UK Isuzu importer, International Motors, is likely to mirror the current Rodeo line-up when the new range is launched and offer single and double cab 4x4 models as well as two-wheel drive versions of the two-seater
