Caddy celebrates 30th anniversary in style
Volkswagen is marking the Caddy’s 30th birthday — the name first appeared on the 1982 Golf Mk1 pick-up — with the release of Edition 30 special editions, all featuring a black gloss roof and machine-polished 17in alloy wheels. Body colour choice is white, silver, red, green or yellow. To make them stand out they sport ‘signatures’ on the rear and sliding side doors as well as on the front door sills. The headline news is that the engine choice includes the 170hp/350Nm 2.0-litre BiTDI from the Transporter, making it the most powerful production Caddy Van ever. The front wheels are driven via a seven-speed DSG semi-auto transmission, making the proposition even more mouthwatering.
Available in either a five- or seven-seater passenger car trim, as well as a van — which is the only model likely to make it across the Channel — the interior enhancements include seats with Alcantara upholstery, a multi-function steering wheel, leather-trimmed gearstick and handbrake lever, semi-automatic climate control and tinted windows.
Once we have further details of exact specification, model availability and on-sale date for the UK we will publish an update.
