Chevy launches 2012 Colorado in Thailand
Chevrolet has unveiled its all-new global mid-size Colorado pick-up in Thailand and the good news is that it’s coming to the UK. It’s likely to go on sale in the latter part of 2012. It will also be sold in the US, traditionally the home of much larger pick-ups.For the Thai market it’s available as a single, extended and double cab with either two- or selectable four-wheel drive. Engine choice is either 150hp 2.5-litre or 180hp 2.8-litre turbodiesel with the former developing peak torque of 440Nm and the latter 470Nm. Both meet Euro 4 emissions regulations. A five-speed manual gearbox comes as standard with a six-speed automatic fitted to some higher specification models, which also feature LED rear light clusters.
What isn’t known at this stage is what engine choice will be on offer when the Colorado reaches Europe. We suspect it will be different and a six speed manual ’box is a dead cert if it’s to take on the recently introduced Volkswagen Amarok and the soon-to-be launched all-new Ford Ranger.
