Doblò Work Up dropside launches in UK
Fiat Professional has announced the roll-out of its versatile factory-built Doblò dropside conversion, the Work Up, in the UK. And the weighty news is that it has a gross payload of one tonne. On top of that, thanks to the award-winning innovative independent rear suspension set-up (see here) the maximum rear axle loading is 1,450kg. Front axle loading peaks at 1,120kg.Based on the long-wheelbase chassis cab, the Work Up’s load bed has a maximum length of 2,300mm, is 1,820mm wide and the aluminium alloy dropsides and tailgate are 350mm high. Constructed from high tensile steel the load floor is protected by an anti-slip laminated wood covering and will easily accommodate three Euro pallets.
Steps are built into both sides of the bodywork for easy access, as well as fold-out ones for when the sides are dropped. A ladder rack with a mesh in-fill protects the rear of the cab — complete with window — from damage. Load-restraining points are provided. Under the load bed, there’s a full-length, lockable, compartment for storing long tools (no sniggering, please) and protecting them from the elements and the light-fingered.
Engine choice is 90hp 1.3- and 105hp 1.6-litre Euro 5 diesel, both with a DPF and fuel-saving Start&Stop system as standard. ABS is part of the package, but ESP— including a Hill-Holder function for those who don’t know what the handbrake is for — is on the options list, along with air bags.“The new Doblò Work Up is the latest evolution of a model designed to be top of its class in terms of performance and functional characteristics, its capability and ease of loading,” said Francesco Russiello, marketing product manager, Fiat Professional. “Its low running costs, low fuel consumption with reduced operating costs and equipment levels, all combine with safety and comfort to make this a commercial vehicle well worth consideration.”
Basic prices for Doblò Work Up are £16,065 (excl VAT) for the 1.3-litre and the 1.6 will set you back £17,065.
