Ford awarded ‘Fleet Hero’ status
The Energy Savings Trust has declared Ford as a Fleet Hero for the second time in three years. Ford took top spot in the Innovation in Car and Van Manufacturing category of the awards. The Energy Saving Trust’s four judges praised Ford for “bringing premium, efficient vehicle technologies at low cost to wider fleet markets”. Ford’s ECOnetic Technology is a suite of fuel-saving enhancements, some of which are available on Fiesta Van and Transit, as well as on passenger cars.
Transit has recently undergone a major update (see New Launch story) and a long-wheelbase medium roof ECOnetic model has joined the short-wheelbase derivative carried over from the previous line-up. All Transits come with Smart Regenerative Charging and an Advanced Battery Management System, but the ECO models also benefit from low rolling resistance tyres and Auto-Start-Stop combined with a 70mph speed limiter, both of which are switchable.
Steve Fletcher, Ford fleet operations manager, Ford of Britain, said: “It is very pleasing to be recognised for the high levels of advanced technology that Ford is applying across its vehicle range, not only lowering CO2 emissions but also promoting more fuel-efficient and safer driving.”
