Ford offering £2,000 van scrappage incentive

Ford Transit Custom 2017Ford has announced that it’s introducing a scrappage scheme worth £2,000 for any pre-2010 registered van and runs to the end of 2017. Combined with existing discounts on new vans it means that there’s the potential for the buyer of a brand, spanking new Transit to save up to £7,000 on the list price. The total scrappage saving drops to £5,500 for a Transit Custom, £5,000 for a Connect and £3,650 for a Courier.

The trade-in van can be from any manufacturer, must have been registered in the owner’s name for at least 90 days and will go directly to the scrap yard. The intention is to remove some of the worst polluting LCVs from the roads.

“Ford shares society’s concerns over air quality”, said Andy Barratt, chairman and managing director of Ford of Britain. “Removing generations of the most polluting vehicles will have the most immediate positive effect on air quality, and this Ford scrappage scheme aims to do just that. We don’t believe incentivising sales of new vans and cars goes far enough and we will ensure that all trade-in vehicles are scrapped. Acting together we can take hundreds of thousands of the dirtiest vans and cars off our roads and out of our cities.”
