Ford takes FiestaVan and Transit Connect to Euro 5
All 2011 model year Transit Connect and FiestaVan engines meet or exceed Euro 5 emissions standards.Ford has revised the 1.4- and 1.6-litre DuraTorq diesels in FiestaVan with the addition of a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) among other tweaks to meet the latest emissions regs. In the process the former gains 2hp, taking it to 70hp, while the latter rises by 5hp to 95hp. As a bonus all FiestaVans now come with a trip computer as standard for 2011.
Not to be outdone the Transit Connect’s 90hp and 110hp 1.8-litre diesels gain a self-cleaning DPF and a variable geometry turbo (Variable Nozzle Turbo in Fordspeak) to increase low-end torque. The final drive ratio has been lowered slightly to raise the overall gearing and improve fuel consumption.
