GreenRoad joins Van Excellence scheme
Driver training specialist GreenRoad is the latest company to gain accreditation for the Freight Transport Association’s (FTA) Van Excellence scheme, an industry-led initiative designed to raise standards and improve the image of the UK’s growing van sector. Launched in 2010 and widely recognised by the industry, Van Excellence membership includes a tough accreditation system and a strict code of practice, and is backed by many household names like DHL and Balfour Beatty. GreenRoad’s training programme is designed to reduce crash incidents dramatically and cut fuel consumption by enhancing driver performance behind the wheel. A typical customer sees up to a 10 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and emissions, as well as a 50 per cent reduction in collision costs.
“We are delighted to have GreenRoad on board as partners of Van Excellence,” said Mark Cartwright, the FTA’s van project manager. “As leaders in driver performance and safety management they bring a huge amount of value to the scheme in terms of experience and expertise, and their support is invaluable.”
Aidan Rowsome, general manager of GreenRoad, said: “We chose to partner with the FTA because its Van Excellence scheme plays an important role in helping fleets become safer and more fuel-efficient. We hope that through this partnership we will help van fleet managers understand that it is possible to change driving behaviour and achieve considerable savings in accident costs, fuel, insurance and wear-and-tear.”
