Integrated fuel management from Shell
Shell has introduced a new fuel management initiative which automatically links its fuel card transactions with vehicle and driver data.
Called Shell Fuelsave Partner it’s a subscription-based system with no up-front cost which generates simple reports with practical guidance for commercial transport operators on how to reduce fuel consumption, and hence CO2 emissions. Shell reckons it can deliver fuel savings of up to 10 per cent and that it is one of the only systems to automatically calculate CO2 emissions on a per tonne-km basis.
“Our technology team has worked with partners IBM, Airbiquity and Continental Automotive to develop and test the telematics technology which underpins Shell FuelSave Partner,” commented Peter Adams from Shell Global Solutions. “It’s been tested with existing customers and refined to make sure it will help deliver real benefits to our customers. For instance, as well as helping reduce fuel costs and fuel-related CO2 emissions, Shell FuelSave Partner can also provide accurate data that helps prevent fraud.”
