Isuzu Truck UK technicians take on the world
Two Isuzu Truck UK-trained dealer technicians have been selected to represent the dealer network in the 2011 Isuzu World Technical Skills Competition being held at Isuzu Motors’ Kawasaki-based plant in Japan during December. The UK duo is the only team representing any of the European countries.Simon Turner from Universal Commercial Vehicles in Reading and Les Algeo from Warrington Vehicle Centre in Warrington make up the UK team. Under the guidance and coaching of Tony Hicks, technical trainer at Isuzu Truck UK (ITUK), they will fly out to Tokyo with a couple of days to spare to carry out last-minute preparations for the competition.
“Last year was the first time that a team representing ITUK competed in this competition and we will use that experience to ensure that we improve on the very credible sixth place finish that we achieved in 2010,” said Keith Child, marketing director at Isuzu Truck UK. “Once again it's a huge honour for ITUK to be invited to participate in this global event and we are sure that Simon and Les will be perfect ambassadors to represent the UK dealer network during this highly-competitive event in Japan.”
