Organic food delivery specialist Abel & Cole has switched from refrigerated van conversions to box bodies on Iveco Daily 3.5t chassis cabs for the latest 45 additions to its fleet. Using Paneltex 3,800mm refrigerated box bodies has enabled Abel to increase the payload of its delivery vehicles by 120kg, taking it to a very respectable 1,060kg.Featuring Hubbard 360 direct drive refrigeration systems, the box bodies are compliant with ATP Class C standards and designed to operate at +8°C. Each body has triple-insulated rear doors, integral central double step, flexible interior shelving and have a ceiling height sufficient for drivers to stand up inside.
Abel will be running its new acquisitions for five years, at which point the box bodies will be transferred to new chassis cabs for a further five years of multidrop deliveries. Each vehicle handles in the region of 75 drops a day, rising to some 115 in the London area.
