Limited edition Transit SportVan sees red
Ford is releasing 100 special edition Transit SportVans into the wild with distinctive red livery.Transit SportVan is aimed at customers wanting to make a bold statement with their van and it made its first appearance in 2006. It was Performance Blue with white stripes and 500 were up for grabs.
Four other colour combinations were sold subsequently, but the latest Colorado Red version — on sale from the end of October — comes with the best specification yet. It’s the first medium panel van to come with a DAB radio as standard, for example.
As with all the SportVans, the latest batch is based on the short-wheelbase front-wheel drive Transit 260 with a 140hp 2.2-litre TDCi diesel, six-speed manual gearbox and full ABS/ESP system.
For the £22,630 (excl VAT) asking price, it comes with graphite-coloured 18in alloy wheels fitted with low profile 235/45 tyres, front and rear lower spoilers, side skirts, twin tail pipes and extended wheelarches.
Cab-based niceties include velour trim, air con, six-disc CD player with steering column-mounted remote controls, cruise control, electric windows and door mirrors (heated), leather steering wheel and gearstick knob and a perimeter alarm.SportVan specification also includes remote central locking with a deadlocking facility, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlights, front fog lamps and a load area protection kit. Leather seats, Sat Nav FX system with a 5in colour screen, LED load area lights and LED daytime running lights are available as optional extras.
Mark Simpson, Ford of Britain’s marketing director said: “We know that ‘white van man’ is image conscious, both personally and for his business. The SportVan is a real head-turner as well as a reliable workhorse and that’s why they sell-out so fast.”
