Master reaches landmark production figure
The 100,000th latest generation Master has rolled off the production line at Renault's SoVAB plant (Société de Véhicules Automobiles de Batilly) in eastern France. The plant has pulled out all the stops to meet the growing demand for Master across Europe since its introduction in April 2010. The landmark vehicle, a chassis cab, is destined for the Colas Group, once it has been converted to a Dropside by Renault Tech.Production rates have risen sharply, with an additional 90 personnel taken on during the first half of 2011, allowing the factory to run two-and-a-half shifts. Everything is now in place to ramp up the production rate to 600 vehicles a day by the last quarter of the year.
“All those involved in the project produced a remarkable team effort,” said factory director Pierre Monflier. “Their unfailing commitment and motivation enabled us to make all 350 variants of Master available in time. That's an achievement we can be proud of, and our biggest reward is the response of our customers which has resulted in full order books.”
Thanks to a joint-development deal, Opel/Vauxhall sells it badged as Movano and Renault’s Alliance partner Nissan will be introducing it as the NV400 this autumn.
