Microlise updates in-cab telematics module
Telematics provider Microlise is launching the fourth generation of its in-cab Driver Communications Module, the DCM4, in November. It encompasses a wide range of enhancements over its predecessor and features a 7in colour touch screen that is connected to the company’s MTU3 Telematics Unit. It provides GPS data and acts as a GPRS data modem which also supports voice calls.Full sat nav functionality is provided by the built-in Co-Pilot 8 software to which the size and weight of the vehicle can be added so that only appropriate roads are used. Information about all the delivery/pick-up points for the day is downloaded at log-on with the details transferred automatically to the sat nav. Arrival and departure confirmation is time-stamped.
The DCM4 can be pre-set to handle many tasks; vehicle checks, delivery codes, refuelling information and door seal checks for refrigerated bodies, for example.
Product strategy director for Microlise, Matt Hague, said: “We are really excited to be launching our new Driver Communications Module, its functionally rich & competitively priced, something our customers have also recognised as we have already taken a number of orders for the solution”.
