New BT-50 pick-up UK launch delayed
Mazda has put back the UK introduction of its all-new BT-50 pick-up due to production set-backs following last year’s floods in Thailand. At present there is no indication of a launch date, but it’s unlikely to be this side of the summer.Although it dropped the previous BT-50 from its line-up, Mazda UK is intending to sell the new generation pick-up, which shares its chassis and drivetrain with Ford’s new Ranger, in double cab form. Unlike Ford, however, which sources its UK Rangers from a plant in South Africa, Mazda is reliant solely on supply from Thailand. Current production is being targeted at high volume territories such as the home market and Australia.
Speaking of which, we couldn’t resist posting this video which features a typically strident short Aussie advert of the new BT-50 with some excellent CGI effects, followed by a rather well edited promo produced by Mazda Australia; enjoy.
