New Iveco Daily to offer TomTom sat nav
When the next generation Daily goes on sale in the UK in November (see News Story) it will be available with a semi-integrated TomTom sat nav system as an optional extra. Based on the GO LIVE 1000 series it features a specially designed dash-mounted cradle with hidden wiring plumbed directly into the van’s ignition system. Thanks to a built-in SIM card drivers will be able to get the full benefit of TomTom’s HD Traffic service enabling them to take the fastest route to a destination based on accurate, real time traffic information covering 99.9 per cent of the road network. Up-to-date speed camera information on both fixed and mobile cameras are also provided, along with live weather updates and a local search function.
“We are pleased to be equipping such a successful flagship model from Iveco with our connected navigation so that professional drivers can also enjoy the benefits our LIVE Services offer,” said Giles Shrimpton, managing director of TomTom Automotive.
Fully integrated TomTom devices are already available as part of Renault’s Carminat system and Fiat, Iveco’s parent company, offers a removable package for its light commercials. TomTom has also finalised a deal with Ford of Europe to provide semi-integrated units as options for all of its LCVs, but currently these are unavailable in the UK.
