New Sport models join Merc Vito range

vito-2011-sport-xRevised last autumn, the current Mercedes Vito line-up has been expanded with the addition of Sport and Sport-X models. They can be had in short- (Compact) or long-wheelbase and as a Van or Dualiner, with the latter featuring a quick-release second row of seats.

Power comes from a choice of two diesels; there’s a 163hp (peak torque of 360Nm) four-cylinder 2.1-litre CDI (116) or a 224hp (440Nm) 3.0-litre V6 CDI (122). The former is mated to a six-speed manual transmission with the option of a five-speed auto ’box; the latter comes with the auto ’box as standard and is the sole powertrain for the Sport-X.

Sport and Sport-X have an impressive list of standard features, including new design chrome sidebars with integral step, driver and passenger airbags, comfort single drivers and passenger seats, metallic paint, tinted glass — with privacy glass in the Dualiner — and branded floor mats. Add to this air conditioning, colour-coded bumpers, leather steering wheel, electronically adjustable heated mirrors and chrome grille and tailgate trim.

In addition, Vito Sport includes 17in alloy wheels, an Audio 20 system featuring a 5in colour display, radio/CD player, telephone keypad and aux-in, as well as the luxury cockpit configuration with Silverstone trim and seatbelt reminders for driver and passenger as standard.

Sport-X specification is boosted further by a bulkhead on panel van variants, illuminated kick plates, a COMAND multimedia system featuring a radio, CD/DVD player, TV receiver, Music Register, USB port connectivity, telephone keypad and sat navigation, light and rain sensors, leather driver and passenger seats with contrast stitching and a luxury leather bench seat rear passenger compartment on Dualiner models. On top of all this it adds 18in Brabus alloys, a Brabus-designed front spoiler — which can be specified with the optional Parktronic system — and Xenon headlights.

All models can be had in Red or white, as well as five metallic colours; Silver, Grey, Red, Blue and Black.

Basic list prices (excl VAT) for Sport models start at £23,300, rising to £29,255. A Sport-X Compact Van will set you back £32,295 with the range-topping Long Dualiner costing £34,720.
