Next generation 2012 Combo shows its face
Based on the Fiat Doblò, Opel/Vauxhall's next generation Combo — due to go on sale in 2012 — gets its public debut at this week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Naturally the first pictures are of the low volume selling passenger car, but fill in the rear side windows and replace the tailgate with asymmetrical side-hinged doors and you’ve got the Cargo van.Like Doblò, the new Combo will be available in two wheelbases and roof heights, providing a choice of 3.8m3 or 4.6m3 of load space. Engine choice will be 1.3-, 1.6- or 2.0-litre diesel with power outputs ranging from 90hp to 135hp. It is not known at this stage if the 1.4-litre 95hp petrol will make it to this side of the Channel.
Standard features include central locking, power steering, adjustable steering wheel, electric front windows and an adjustable driver seat. As far as safety goes it comes with a driver’s air bag and ABS brakes.
We’ll publish more information when we have it, as well as pics of the Cargo versions when they surface.
