Olympic cycle road race trial causes traffic chaos
Just under 150 cyclists brought traffic chaos throughout London and Surrey for a large part of last Sunday as the first dry-run for a major Olympic event took place. The 87-mile London-Surrey Cycle Classic gridlocked a swathe of major roads from the Mall in central London, through Chelsea, Putney, Richmond, Kingston, Hampton Court, Dorking and Leatherhead.
This was just a taste of what businesses and private motorists can look forward to next July when the Olympics bandwagon hits the UK. The organisers naturally hailed the event as a success and waffled-on about ‘lessons have been learned’, but take it from VansA2Z; no amount of forward planning will enable business to function efficiently in and around London come July 2012. Get a van with a Stop/Start system and a large flask for coffee now; you’re going to need them.
