Peugeot Bipper gets Stop-Start Euro 5 diesel
Euro 5 emissions compliance and Stop-Start give combined cycle fuel consumption of 65.6mpg.The new 1.3HDi 75hp Euro 5 engine added to the Bipper line-up comes with Stop-Start — the engine cuts out when the vehicle is stationary and re-starts automatically when the clutch is depressed — as standard, reducing CO2 emissions to 112g/km. As an added bonus, payload rises from 610kg to 660kg.
Emissions drop to 109g/km with a combined cycle figure of 68.9mpg when combined with the optional (£700) 2-Tronic automated manual gearbox. Bippers with the current 70hp Euro 4 diesel (62.8mpg, 119g/km) remain available for the time being.
Euro 5 Bipper starts at a basic price (excl VAT) of £10,595 for the S and peaks at £12,005 for the SE 2-Tronic.
207 Van
Peugeot’s car-derived small van, the 207, has also been upgraded to Euro 5 with the introduction of two new diesels; a 70hp 1.4HDi and a 92hp 1.6HDi. Both feature diesel particulate filters (FAP in Peugeot-speak) and have combined cycle and CO2 emission figures of 65.7mpg, 110g/km and 62.8mpg, 115g/km respectively.
These latest revisions to Peugeot’s light commercial engines are the beginning of a year-long programme to upgrade all models to Euro 5 by the end of September 2011.
