Renault Trucks joins CoPilot for NavTruck
Renault Trucks has announced the availability of NavTruck, a custom-developed turn-by-turn GPS navigation app based on ALK’s CoPilot Truck Live software. Initially available for Apple’s iPhone — more mobile operating systems will be catered for in the not too distant future — NavTruck provides truck-specific routes, guidance and maps throughout Europe. It avoids restricted and unsuitable roads based on vehicle dimensions and load type, helping to prevent delivery delays, accidents and costly fines. Vehicle and load dimensions can be saved as individual profiles making it easy to switch between different trucks. Up to 50 stops or waypoints can be entered into an individual itinerary, with journey optimisation and toll road avoidance options to calculate the most efficient route.
Renault NavTruck guides drivers to their destinations with detailed spoken directions and clear non-distracting 3D map displays. On-screen alerts warn the driver about potential truck hazards ahead or if a wrong turn down a restricted route is taken.
