ScottishPower goes on camera with Trakm8

trakm8-2018-scottish-powerFollowing a very successful first year of using Trakm8’s telematics package, ScottishPower will be installing dash cams in all its new vans. The utility company, which operates 1,500 vans and cars, reported positive changes in the areas of speeding and idling, resulting in a 10 per cent increase in fuel efficiency.

Trakm8’s RoadHawk DC-2 forward-facing camera will be specified in all newcomers to ScottishPowers fleet from now-on. The camera provides full 1080p video recording, gyro-balanced image stabilisation and a high-quality sensor, providing evidence in a broad spectrum of lighting conditions. It also features an inbuilt G-force sensor that enables the camera to automatically save clips to a separate ‘event’ folder when it detects a sudden jolt or impact; ensuring that important footage isn’t overwritten or lost in the event of an accident. ‘Event’ files can also be created manually at the press of a button for saving incidents on the road that don’t necessarily involve an impact.

“Choosing Trakm8 as our camera supplier was an easy decision after the company demonstrated such a positive set of results in our first annual telematics review,” said Marc Currie, contracts manager at ScottishPower. “Driver safety remains at the forefront of our actions and we believe installing cameras in our new vehicles will further improve the safety of our drivers.”
