Stylish Transporter Sportline hits the streets

transporter-2011-sport-1Sportline specification has always proved to be very popular with Transporter aficionados looking for a stylish set of wheels, but the wait is now over for the arrival of the T5 editions. Volkswagen has announced that it’s now available as a short- and long-wheelbase van or five-seater Kombi with prices starting at £27,385 (excl VAT).

All models are powered by the 180hp 2.0-litre BiTDI diesel, driving the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The stunning seven-speed DSG semi-auto twin-clutch ’box is a £1,400 option.

The body styling kit includes a gloss black grille with chrome detailing, framed by revised headlights. Below this, the redesigned colour-coded bumper incorporates front fog lights sitting either side of the additional lower grille.

Sportlines also come with polished stainless steel side bars and unique 18in ‘Sportline 5-spoke’ alloys, finished in silver or satin black, while smoked rear light units and a rear roof spoiler make them stand out in a crowd. There’s a choice of three paint-jobs: metallic Reflex Silver, pearlescent Deep Black or, optionally, Candy White with a gloss black roof.

Inside, Sportline features two-tone leather upholstery and a host of goodies, including semi-auto air con, multimedia sound system including a seven-inch touch screen sat nav and Bluetooth connectivity.
