Tata has an electric Ace up its CV Show sleeve

Indian vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors, the owners of Jaguar and Land Rover, will be displaying the merits of its electric Ace microvan chassis cab at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show. The transformation to EV and ‘Europeanisation’ of the Ace is undertaken at Tata’s Technical Centre based at Warwick University in Coventry.
Details are scarce at the moment, but we do know that it has an 85Ah battery located within the chassis behind the cab. With an electric motor housed under the cab, the Ace EV has maximum power of 34hp and 75Nm of torque at its disposal and has a claimed top speed of 25mph. Full charge using a standard domestic supply takes around 10 hours.
It will be available as a Dropside, Tipper and Box Van, has a gross vehicle weight of 1.5t, a payload of around 500kg and a range in the region of 25 miles.
