Toyota returns to the panel van market following the demise of Hiace in 2011. Thanks to a deal with PSA Peugeot Citroën, ProAce is based on the current Expert/Dispatch (Jumpy in Europe).
Proace goes on sale in the UK in July 2013 and it will be on sale as a van and a five/six-seater crew van. There will be a choice of two wheelbases and roof heights, resulting in a choice of three load space volumes; 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0m³. Payloads will range from 1,000 to 1,200kg.
Diesel engine options will be 90hp 1.6-litre (five-speed manual), 126hp 2.0-litre and last, but not least, a 2.0-litre capable of producing 161hp; both will have a six-speed manual gearbox. Peak torque figures are 180, 320 and 340Nm respectively.
Prices and full specifications of the UK models will be announced closer to the on-sale date (see News Story), but expect a full bulkhead, daytime running lights, central locking, electric windows, twin passenger seat and ABS/Vehicle Stability Control to feature on the list of standard-fit equipment.
A full Review & Buyers' Guide will be published shortly.
