Transit ECOnetic provides Speedy solution
Equipment hire and support services specialist Speedy Hire has taken delivery of 19 Ford Transit ECOnetic vans. They’ll be used by its engineers to fulfil maintenance calls around the UK as fuel-efficiently and with as low a CO2 output as possible. They join a fleet of around 2,000 vehicles which are exclusively Ford.Transit ECOnetic is powered by a 115hp 2.2-litre TDCi diesel mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Ford’s ‘greenest’ Transit features optimised engine mapping and longer gearing, along with aerodynamic wheel covers and a gearshift indicator, to help achieve combined cycle fuel economy of 39.2mpg and a class-leading CO2 output of 189g/km.
“We have set an ambitious target for the reduction of the company’s carbon footprint and we believe that the Ford Transit ECOnetic’s impressive environmental performance will help us achieve that,” said Ian Leonard, Speedy’s transport and logistics director. These first 19 vans will be closely monitored in service and if they live up to expectations then I am sure they will be the first of many to join the Speedy fleet.”
Ford is taking the Transit's engines to Euro 5 in the autumn which will improve fuel consumption further and reduce CO2 output. See News Story.
