Transit SportVan goes all heavy metal

ford-transit-2011-sportvan-silver1Now in its seventh colour combination, the latest limited edition Transit SportVan comes in metallic silver (Moondust Silver in Ford-speak) with graphite stripes. With a build run of just 180 it has a basic price (excl VAT) of £23,670.

Based on a front-wheel drive short-wheelbase 260 it’s powered by a 140hp 2.2-litre TDCi. Standard features include twin exhausts, 18in graphite-coloured alloy wheels, low profile 235/45 tyres, front and rear lower spoilers, side skirts and extended wheelarches. Safety features include ABS, ESP along with driver and passenger airbags.

The cab comes kitted-out with velour trim seating, air con, Sony DAB radio/CD with remote steering column-mounted controls, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, electric windows and mirrors (heated), leather steering wheel and gear knob, tinted glass and a perimeter alarm. Optional extras include leather seats, sat nav with 5in colour screen and a rear view camera with cab-mounted 7in LCD colour monitor. LED rear load area lights and LED daytime running lights are available as dealer-fit accessories.

“Demand for our Transit SportVan has been exceptional so we are delighted to now offer this latest edition,” said Ford of Britain's marketing director, Anthony Ireson. “Transit remains as popular as ever with more than 40,000 sales so far this year and this SportVan gives customers the chance to own a really special Transit.”

First introduced in 2007, all previous SportVans are sold out. Chronologically they were Performance Blue with white stripes (500), Sea Grey with silver stripes (80), Panther Black with silver stripes (500), Frozen White with blue stripes (80), Ink Blue with silver stripes (150) and Colorado Red with white stripes (250).
