Transit celebrates its 45th anniversary
There are very few vehicles which can claim to be still in production decades after they were launched. The venerable Ford Transit is one of them.When it appeared the Mk1 Transit was a real game-changer. Vans in 1965 were forward-control — the engine was under the seats and there was no discernible bonnet — and when Transit hit the roads it made the opposition such as the Bedford Commer, Morris J2 and even the Ford Thames which it replaced look and feel positively antiquated.
