Transit gets new dealer-fit Cobra alarm
Cobra UK has begun supplying a new Thatcham-approved Cat 1 alarm system to Ford dealerships specifically developed for the Transit. Priced at £208 (excl fitting) it’s a dealer-fit option for any Transit from 2007 onwards, including the latest generation Euro 5 models. It is the sole Thatcham Cat 1 system able to be fitted to the new ECOnetic Transits and those fitted with the optional Auto-Start-Stop and speed-limiter Eco Pack. Operated from the standard central locking remote control its features include a high power siren with battery back-up, ultrasonic cab interior movement detection and protection for the cab doors, bonnet and all the load area doors. There’s an emergency override facility using a unique PIN code and a tilt sensor to warn of tow-away and wheel theft attempts.
“Cobra has worked with Ford to develop a high quality alarm system which aims to provide van customers with both a theft deterrent and vehicle protection,” said Andrew Smith, managing director of Cobra UK. “Ford is committed to helping protect its van customers’ vehicles and loads from theft. We have worked together to develop a top quality Cat 1 accredited alarm system that exceeds the stringent requirements of both Ford of Europe and Ford of Britain which should also help lower insurance premiums.”
