Transit to get new Euro 5 engine line-up
Ford is ramping up the Transit’s engines to Euro 5 later this year. The current 2.2- and 2.4-litre TDCi diesels will be replaced by a range of powerplants based around the new 2.2-litre global engine which will be under the bonnet of the all-new Ranger when it goes on sale in the UK this November.Specific power outputs have yet to be announced, but expect them to pretty much mirror those of the current Transit range. Both front- and rear-wheel drive models will use the same engines for the first time.
All the new diesels will come with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) as standard and feature a variable geometry turbo to increase low-down torque and improve fuel consumption, thereby reducing CO2 output.
