VW LCV Converter Recognition scheme goes live

VW Crafter Tipper 2017Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has announced that its scheme to underpin its existing van and chassis cab Engineered to Go and Engineered for You conversion programmes is now fully live. Designed to make the whole buying, servicing and aftersales support seamless with one point of contact, the new Converter Recognition scheme also extends the range of off-the-shelf and bespoke conversions on offer. It also guarantees the quality of products available directly through VW’s dedicated Van Centre network.

Something worth noting is that all VW light commercials, and this includes conversions, bought using in-house finance come with two free services included; one full and one interim. The offer runs until 1 October 2017 and in the case of a new Crafter is on top of the already included current free interim and full service deal.

The Converter Recognition scheme’s rigorous audit process introduces a number of new quality and technical criteria to which converters must adhere. A three-tiered approach has been developed to suit the differing converter agreements that VW operates: Registered Bodybuilder, Integrated Partner and Premium Partner. The latter two are required to undergo regular, stringent audits to ensure the quality of the products available, as well as deliver minimum type approval certification for each conversion meaning all Volkswagen-converted vehicles will feature the same aftersales support received by the brand’s standard vehicles.

Key conversion sectors have been covered in the new scheme and include: access platforms, car transporters, cranes, minibuses and mobile workshops, as well as racking, refrigeration, welfare and wheelchair access vehicles, on top of standard Lutons, dropsides and tippers. The full list of conversions and converters can be seen here.
